Exhibitions

Background
In May 2012, Phoenix invested in CloserStill, a leading business-to-business exhibition organiser. CloserStill currently has a portfolio of ten exhibitions in the UK, principally in the healthcare and technology sectors, including the London Vet Show, the Pharmacy Show, and Learning Technologies. Phoenix is backing the existing management team, led by Andy Center (CEO).

Investment Rationale

  • Highly experienced and entrepreneurial management team, operating in the exhibitions sector, which Phoenix identified as an attractive area for investment
  • Market leading positions in resilient end markets
  • A number of identified growth levers, both in the UK and internationally

Strategy

  • Build a leading scale exhibition business operating in attractive end markets
  • Support further development of the business through growing the existing business, launching new exhibitions, bolt-on acquisitions, and international expansion
