Phoenix Equity Partners (“Phoenix”), a leading UK middle-market private equity firm, today announces the promotions of Mark Sargeant and Will Skinner to the role of Partner.
Mark Sargeant is a member of Phoenix’s Business Services and Media teams and has been involved in a range of the firm’s investments since joining in 2007. These include Global Freight Solutions (GFS) and Sygnature Discovery, both of which Phoenix backed last year. Mark currently serves as a Non-Executive Director at GFS and previously held board roles with a number of Phoenix’s successful former investments, including Palletways and Karma Communications. Before joining Phoenix, Mark spent four years in the M&A team at UBS Investment Bank advising on transactions in the TMT sector.
Will Skinner joined Phoenix in 2011 and is a member of the Consumer and Leisure team. Will has been involved in successful investments including The Gym Group, Riviera Travel and Porthaven Care Homes and currently represents Phoenix on the boards of Bridge Leisure and Travel Chapter. More recently, Will also played a key role with the firm’s acquisition of a controlling stake in Forest Holidays. Prior to joining Phoenix, Will spent four years in J.P. Morgan’s European Acquisition and Leveraged Finance team.
David Burns, Managing Partner at Phoenix, said: “We are delighted to welcome Mark and Will to the Partnership. These well-deserved promotions follow their close involvement with many of the businesses Phoenix has successfully backed over the last few years.”
The promotions of Mark and Will follow a strong year for Phoenix in 2017, when the firm successfully exited Key Retirement Group, Porthaven Care Homes and Riviera Travel. Last year Phoenix also completed four new investments from its 2016 Fund, with the acquisitions of Rayner Surgical Group, Global Freight Solutions, Sygnature Discovery and Forest Holidays.
